NIT MCA Entrance Exam 2008 – National Institute of Technology MCA Admission

NIMCET 2008 NIT MCA Entrance Exam 2008 will be held on 18th May, 2008

ENTRANCE TEST FOR ADMISSION TO MASTER OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (MCA) PROGRAMME IN NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (NITs)

National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are premier Technical Institutions of National repute and are fully funded by Government of India. The Curricula and Syllabi of Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme offered by NITs are designed considering the need of different Software Houses in India and abroad and has a high job potential in IT Sector. The NIMCET is a National Level Entrance Test conducted by NITs for admission to their MCA programme. The admission to MCA programme offered by all the NITs for the year 2008-09 will be purely based on the Rank obtained in NIMCET ‘ 08 and the eligibility conditions.

Eligibility for NIMCET 2008

1. Indian Nationals having minimum 60% aggregate marks (6.5/10 CGPA) in each of the examinations of
(i) 12th level and
(ii) Bachelor’s Degree of Full Time of minimum 3 years duration from a recognized University with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Business Mathematics as one of the subjects in any one semester/year in all the above (i) and (ii) mentioned courses, are eligible to apply.

2.SC/ST Candidates with minimum 55% aggregate marks (6.0/10CGPA) are eligible.

3.The candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examination are also eligible to appear for NIMCET-2008. Such candidates shall have to furnish the proof of fulfilling the eligibility criteria of NIMCET-08 preferably at the time of Counseling/Admission but not later than 31st July, 2008, failing which, their admission may be cancelled by the respective NITs.

ADMISSION METHODOLOGY, APPLICATION FORM, APPLICATION FEE.
1. The Application Fee for the entrance exam of the MCA Programme is Rs. 700/- for OPEN/OBC and Rs. 350/- for SC/ST candidate. Candidate will have to take Demand Draft for the above amount drawn in favour of “The Chairman, NIMCET-08″, payable at State Bank of India, Surathkal, or any other nationalised bank payable at Mangalore. Candidates are advised to write their name and address on the reverse side of the Demand Draft.

2. NIMCET-2008 application form is applicable for both the Entrance Examination and for admission to MCA at all the NITs offering MCA programme. Candidates are not required to apply separately to each NIT for admission.

3. The admission to MCA programme in all the 10 participating NITs will be through a Single Window Centralized Counseling/ Seat Allotment at respective NITs based on NIMCET-08 Rank tentatively in June 2008.

4. Exact details in this regard will be intimated in due course to all eligible candidates for Counseling.

5. Please note that there is no inter NIT transfer of candidates after being admitted into any of the NITs.Candidates once allotted a seat in any particular NIT will have to take admission at that NIT only.

6. The general eligibility to write NIMCET is the same for all NITs. Admission criteria and fee structure may differ from one Institute to the other. JIPMER MBBS 2008 Important Dates

Commencement of issue of application: 18th February 2008
Last Date for issue of application (Postal request & On-line): 27th March 2008 (Thursday)
Last Date for receipt of JIPMER 2008 MBBS applications both Off-line and On-line: 31st March 2008 (Monday).

DATE OF JIPMER MBBS 2008 ENTRANCE EXAMINATION: 8th June 2008 (Sunday)

Applications are invited from Resident Indian Nationals for admission to JIPMER MBBS course for the Session 2008. Eligibility Criteria and other details can be found on their Website: www.jipmer.edu. Seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates and persons with disability as per Government of India Rules. Reservation for OBC candidates would be applicable as and when Government Orders for the same are issued.

Prospectus and Application Forms (A & b) can be obtained on cash payment of Rs.500/- (unreserved) and Rs.400/- (SC/ST) from the Bank of Baroda Extension Counter only at the basement of Administrative Building, JIPMER, from 18-02-2008 to 31-03-2008. The bank timing when the applications will be available are 9.30 am to 1.30 pm on all working days (Monday to Friday) and from 9.30 am to 12.00 pm on Saturdays.

Application forms can also be had from Professor (Academic), JIPMER, Puducherry-605006 up to 27th March 2008 through postal requests, accompanied by M.I.C.R. Bank Draft of 500/- (Unreserved and Rs.400/- (SC/ST) drawn in favour of “Accounts Officer, JIPMER” payable at any Nationalized Bank in Puducherry, Union Territory. A 10 cm x 7 cm Self Addressed Label must accompany the postal request for correct delivery of the Application Forms.

JIPMER MBBS 2008 application can be submitted by an ONLINE process (internet based) by accessing the Website: www.jipmer.edu/link during 18-02-2008 to 27-03-2008. The candidate should first pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs.500/- (Unreserved) and Rs.400/- (SC/ST) by obtaining a DD as mentioned above. The Draft details are required while filling up on-line form. Candidates are required to take a print of a single online application form after successful submission of data. The printed Form with candidate’s signature, left thumb print and photograph and the DD must be sent by Speed Post so as to reach the Professor (Academic), JIPMER, Puducherry-605006 by 31st March, 2008. Attested copies of SC/ST certificates, medical certificate in support of disability must be enclosed with the application forms wherever applicable. Failure to enclose these certificates will render the completed applications (both Off-line and Online) ineligible for entrance examination.
Online applications will be issued Hall-Ticket for Entrance Examination only after the postal receipt of the competed form, Bank Draft and necessary enclosures by the Office of Professor (Academic), JIPMER On-line applicants while sending the completed form must indicate the center preferred by them for the Entrance Examination on the Postal Cover.

Total Seats for MBBS: JIPMER admits 75 (seventy five only) students to each batch of MBBS course, yearly once. They are available to eligible students as per the reservations under various categories, detailed below.

For Pondicherry natives: 20 (3 for Scheduled castes + 17 for UR)
For students of other states: 26 (8 for Scheduled castes + 6 for Scheduled tribes + 12 for others)

JIPMER MBBS 2008 – Eligibility

Students who are Indian nationals, aged 17 years on or before 31st December and passed Higher Secondary Examination (+2) under 10+2+3 pattern with 50% marks in English and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together are eligible to appear in the Entrance Examination and try their merit.

JIPMER 2008 MBBS Entrance Exam Syllabus

JIPMER does not prescribe any syllabus for Entrance Examination. However, it is based on CBSE /Higher Secondary State board syllabus for 11th and 12th standard students.

JIPMER MBBS Entrance Exam Pattern

The Entrance Examination will be of multiple choice type questions totaling 200 in the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Each answer with correct response shall be awarded one mark. Zero Mark will be given for the question not answered. More than one answer indicated against a question, will be deemed as incorrect response and no mark will be given. There is no NEGATIVE MARKING. The model of the question of the Entrance Examination is given in the Prospectus
